Standards for Patrol Instructor/Apprentice Trainer

  • Must be a member of FLECA in good standing.
  • Must attend and complete a 400hr. canine academy.
  • Must have three years of canine handler experience from completion of school.
  • Must attend and complete an Instructor Techniques Course.
  • Must attend and complete a minimum of 40hrs. Canine Instructor Course.
  • Supporting documents for requirements must be submitted to include: resume, certificates from Canine Academy, Instructors Technique Course and Canine Instructor Course.

Standards for Detection Instructor/Apprentice Trainer

  • Must be a member of FLECA in good standing.
  • Must attend and complete a 200hr. canine detection academy.
  • Must have three years of canine handler experience from completion of school.
  • Must attend and complete an Instructor Techniques Course.
  • Supporting documents for requirements must be submitted to include: resume, certificates from Canine Academy, Instructors Technique Course.

Standards for Patrol Trainer

  • Must be a member of FLECA in good standing.
  • Must be a Certified Patrol Instructor in FLECA for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Must have instructed a minimum of two 400hr Canine Patrol Academies.
  • Must have instructed a minimum of 10 canine teams. 80% of teams instructed must pass certification and demonstrate proficiency.
  • Resume and supporting documents must be submitted including: lesson plans from patrol schools, 10 patrol team academic certificates, 8 patrol teams certification certificates.
  • Must attend (2) FLECA seminars as an Instructor and apprentice under the guidance of a FLECA Trainer.

Standards for Detection Trainer

  • Must be a member of FLECA in good standing.
  • Must be a Certified Detection Instructor in FLECA for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Must have instructed a minimum of two 200hr Canine Detection Academies.
  • Must have instructed a minimum of 10 canine teams. 80% of teams instructed must pass certification and demonstrate proficiency.
  • Resume and supporting documents must be submitted including: lesson plans from canine detection schools, 10 detection team academic certificates, 8 detection teams certification certificates.
